Michalove Wins Paris-Roubaix

Sharon Michalove just won the first edition of Paris-Roubaix for women over 50. Michalove, on a specially designed Trek bicycle made for riding the cobbles and also with a woman-specific fit, was part of an all-American team sponsored by AARP, Synergy, Clif Bar, and Carmichael Training Systems. The goal was to promote fitness at all ages. Sharon's team was coached by Carmichael Training Systems and all 8 women were over the age of 55. Sharon felt that her team's efforts really paid off in her victory over the cobbles and that the training helped her lift the traditional cobblestone award at the end.

Sharon started cycling at the age of 54 and became a competitive cyclist several years later. She began with Team in Training and the Tour de Tucson and then became involved with Team Synergy-AARP. Her goal was to win Paris-Roubaix, in honor of her favorite cyclist, George Hincapie. Trek presented her with a special green bike, in honor of her victory. Green is Sharon's favorite color.
